Christopher and JoAnne Olson Friends June 20, 2008

Kelly,

We are so deeply sorry for the loss of Jeff.  Chris and I feel very lucky to have known both you and Jeff; we will miss him.  We will always remember how his smile could light up the room and how his laughter could fill the air with joy.  We always had such a good time playing cards with both of you or just hanging around the bonfire.  May you find comfort and peace knowing that you have so many family and friends who are thinking of you.  Hold all the wonderful memories of Jeff close and he and his love will remain in your heart forever!

We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Jeff.  We didn't get to know Jeff very well, but enjoyed playing cards with the two of you at Craig's house over the past few years.  May you find strength and healing in all of your memories.  You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers for the days and weeks ahead.

Our Deepest Sympathy,

Dear Kelly and Hettwer/Berg families,

In 2005 when my mother passed away I received a poem from a very close friend of mine. This poem helped me when I was at my lowest point.  I hope that it can help you and provide comfort like it did for me.

I’ll bet you’ve had about enough

of people telling you how strong you are

and how great you’re doing

during this awful, difficult

period in your life.

Maybe you’d rather hear someone say

how much this sucks,

how outrageous and unfair it is.

Maybe you’d rather hear someone tell you

that you don’t have to be strong

all the time.

Or that it’s definitely okay

to curse fate and throw a tantrum or two.

So here I am to tell you

all that stuff and more,

to let you know where I stand,

which is right in your corner.

There’s no right way or wrong way

at a time like this.

However you work through this thing

is immaterial to me.

All I care about is that

you ask for what you need,

lean on those who love you,

and try to trust me when I say

that you’ll come out the other side.

My deepest sympathies to you all for the loss of your husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.  Jeff had an infectious personality and one could not help but to smile and be in a good mood whenever he was around. Kelly and Jeff were the picture perfect high school sweethearts who loved life and shared their passion with all.  May all the wonderful memories of Jeff comfort you during this time of grief.

With Sincere Sypathy,

Kelly,

What a wonderful man you found. Whenever you kids came to our house for whatever the occasion it was always such a treat for me to watch how you and Jeff would always take the time to stop, listen and guide Ryan and Lisa's little ones ( Megan, Luke and Dylan). I know Jeff enjoyed his time with them very much and if you're reading this Ryan and Lisa - thanks for sharing the babies. Jeff is now gone from our family but he will never be forgotten. It's a time of great sorrow and pain that will last a lifetime but that's because of the tremendous love that we all shared with Jeff. My sweet little girl, I hurt for you so much.

I am not usually an obituary reader, but somehow turned to that section yesterday and was drawn to the smiling young man's picture.  I was thinking, boy, that looks like my former student, Jeff Hettwer.  I was so sad to see that it was Jeff and that he had died so young.  I had Jeff in my third grade class at Epiphany.  We recently had a 40th year reunion of the school and I had gone through my old pictures looking for faces and names to put with them.  Jeff was one of the class members I remembered instantly for his infectious grin, his sunny personality, and his smarts.  He had the same infectious grin in the paper, minus the blond mullet.  Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend.  It sounds like he had a very good life, cut short by tragedy....

Kelly,

Although I haven't seen you since high school, I felt compelled to seek out more info when I read about the accident in the paper, and was brought to this beautiful website.  I'm so sorry for your loss.  I didn't know Jeff at all but I am deeply saddened to hear of this tragic accident.  I can tell by the pictures posted you two loved each other a lot, and that Jeff was a very gifted artist.  I hope you can find peace through all the well wishes and the love of your family and friends.

All my best,

Jillian Rung  (Jill Howe)
